So, yesterday I tried to blow up my little S10 truck. Here's the back story:
This little truck is almost as old as I am, it an 86, and still doesn't have 200,000 miles yet. I get use of this truck when ever I want, I just have to drop off my car and drive away. It's the back up truck at my family's shop, so it doesn't get driven much, but my dad claims he tries to start it up once a week to make sure it still works.
Now here's what happened yesterday, Joshua and I hop in the truck and start driving to my sister's place in Lynnwood from the U District. Now, because the truck is so old, I don't trust any of the gauges (even the speed), we're driving along and a light goes on, on the dash, it says "Check gauges", naturally I ignore it. Then about a mile from my sister's place I realize that the temp gauge is topped out. Joshua tells me not to let the speed get under 40 unless I'm turning off the engine. God was with us, and we made it off the freeway and into a gas station. I called my sister and she was home and able to come down and pick me up while Joshua stayed with the truck and waited until it cooled down.
All in all, he put 1 & 1/2 gallons of water in it! Yup, the poor thing didn't have any water in it. God's hand of protection was on us the whole time keeping us safe.
So yeah, I had a fun experience yesterday. But we made it home safe with yet another load of stuff, and a friend is coming over later to help me organize and purge out stuff I don't need. Yeah for friends that are good at organizing!
